Rays are fish whose skeleton, like their close relatives the sharks, is made of cartilege and both belong to the subclass Elasmobranchii. Members of the order Batoidea, their flattened, disc-shaped bodies and wing-like pectoral fins allow them to "fly" gracefully through the ocean.
