The original title of this illustration is "Siphoneae. - Riesen-Algetten". It is Plate 64 from Haeckel's 1904 book "Kunstformen der Natur" (Art Forms in Nature).  Siphoneae is a class of algae approximately equivalent to the Siphonales (an order of marine and freshwater green algae whose filaments consist essentially of a large multinucleate cell with cross walls rare and usually only adjacent to reproductive organs).
